Creative Audio Software (Setup.exe) Uninstall Problems

Hello,

I recently had an issue where my computer was not recognizing my sound card, a Creative X-Fi Xtreme. It didn't show up in the Control Panel under Audio devices, and when I tried to start one of my Creative applications, it stated that "there are no supported audio devices available."

I had this issue in the past, and solving it involved uninstalling and reinstalling the Creative Audio Driver suite.

However, I must have messed up the process this time around. In "Add or Remove Programs" I first removed the Creative Driver and then I was prompted to restart. Next, on the boot when I return to uninstall the rest of the Creative software, I get the error: Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

My options are to Close or Debug. From then on, I remain unable to delete any of the other Creative software. I believe that once I can delete this software, and fully remove everything Creative related, I will be able to complete a fresh install and my sound will be working again.

Please help me get past this Setup.exe error and uninstall these files!

 

This has been resolved.. instead my Creative software is giving me new troubles now.

Thanks for pointing toward that seemingly very useful thread, but I'm here on MajorGeeks because I already found and tried that fix, to no avail.

Also to be more specific, I'm running Windows XP and the specific sound card model is the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI
