XP, P4-HT, Gigabit Prescott Mobo, 2Gb RAM. Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1 Sound Card.
Every few weeks (around 1 month), my AudioHQ program stops working, and will not load the tray icon. It gives a crash box, and the program will no longer run. I have to uninstall and reinstall the entire setup to make it work again. There are no updates for the software, as I have tried this before. Anyone have an idea of what's wrong or how I could fix it? Thanks.

Any error messages in the crashbox or in the Event Viewer?

Do you loose sound as well or just the SYS Tray icon, if the AudioHQ soft has another way to open eg. via Control Panel or Start > Programs menu does it work/load from there ok?

It just says an error occurred in AudioHQ.exe. I can't run the control, period. No icon, can't run from the panel, nothing.

Event Viewer also just says "an error occured in AudioHQ.exe" too or does it give error code etc?

Is your Audio driver and AudioHQ software upto date? which version you have now?

So re-installing it again and it will work for a few weeks then break again? if it works fine for a few weeks then their will be some sort of pattern to why its then crashing, it could be a cleanup routine you do thats removing a core part of the software.

not an easy one to fix, if some other software is breaking it i'm afraid.

This seems to be the most relevant thread for my problem....I have a hand me down comp windows 98 se,AuthenticAMD AMD Duron(tm) Processor,765MB RAM, Creative Sound Blaster Live. After running countless cleanup and fix it and virus, adware etc. everything seemed good. however now i get this error on start up...
"The location of the plugin files is invalid.PLease key in the correct path where the files*.ahq can be found. If this dialogue box apears again, please verify that the path you have chosen contain files of extension *.ahq" Also something about my device not detected when I try to use media player.
I do not have a disk fo the card. is there any way to fix this.

    Thank you in advance.

The software is as up -to-date as they come, it's doing exactly what you said, and I'll show you an error code if it decides to do it again. I hadn't replied for a while because I didn't see a reply until I finally came back... I think I'll be hanging around now due to boredom anywhere else, though. Anyway.
