Creative Vibra128 Soundcard fails..

Hello,
I have ECS L4VXA2 mainboard w/ VIA VT8754 Northbridge and VT8235 Southbridge chipest. This mainboard has an on-board AC'97 sound.

I've disabled the on-board sound via the BIOS and uninstalled its drivers in order to use my Creative Vibra128 soundcard, but I hear no sound..

The OS recognizes the card and the drivers have been installed properly, no conflictions.. But when I try to play a sound, ANY sound (MP3,WAV etc`) it just don't play.. No error msg..

I tried switching between the PCI slots and tried installing the new VIA4in1 drivers as well as the OLD ones.. but in vain..

My OS: Win98SE
CPU: 2.4GHz Celeron
RAM: 256DDR

Do you have you speakers plugged into the right port. Is the soundcard on mute? Go into control panel and make sure that the vibra 128 is chosen as teh primary sound output. Make sure in the sound panel in control panel that the master volume is up and not all the way down.

 

Ya the speakers are connected to the right port, the Volume in the control panel is all the way up.. The problem is more complicated than that..

I tried configuring the settings in the BIOS according to Creative Knowledge Base but it didn't work..

I noticed my sound card uses the same IRQ as the USB universal host controller.. (IRQ 10) i dunno if thats the reason.. Now I have to use the AC'97 on-board sound, I have no other choice.. and it uses IRQ 10 as well and it works ok..
