Critical System Error Icon?

Has anyone ever heard of this? I received a message in MySpace, and when I opened it, it installed an apparent virus on my computer that my AntiVir didn't catch. Now, I have this icon on my toolbar that keeps popping up saying that I have Critical System Errors and trys to get me to download some spyware programs. It also has taken over my homepage, as it goes directly to eprotectpage.com. I have had viruses in the past and used this site to remove them, but I don't remember this particular one ever showing up! Does anyone know of a particular step to remove this, or should I just use the typical steps? Thanks for any help.

I have heard of rogue MySpace pages lately, its becoming a nuisance.

But there are 2 programs that might remove it without doing all that. I suggest you run them from safe mode.

Both are shareware, but you can uninstall if they work, or buy if you feel like it.

I ran the two programs listed, and my browser no longer seems to be hijacked, or whatever you want to call it. However, it didn't remove any of the infected files without me purchasing the full upgrade.....Is there anyway to just take the data that it gives me and manually remove the files (BHO, etc.) in HijackThis or something? Also, the Critical System Error Icon is still in my taskbar.....Is there any way to get rid of that annoying thing? Thanks again! You guys are always more helpful than can be imagined!

yes if you run the steps in the guide that the Major linked to above ( http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 < this one ) and once completed you will have 5 logs, attach them in your next posts, you will have to use two posts to do this as your only allowed to post 3 attachemnts at a time.

Once the malware gurus have the logs they will be able to post some manual removal instructions for you
