Just saw that. Obviously a shock, but he flirted with disaster from time to time. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he'll be missed.

I just read about it, he will be missed world wide. I didn't really watch his shows, but I liked the man and his wife a lot.

    Rest In Peace Steve.

Yes a very sad day here in Australia, and indeed world wide. Steve's enthusiasm for the natural world (and life in general) was indeed infectious. He will be missed. Thoughts with his family, Terri, Bindi and Bob.

Yes...a tragic end to one of the worlds great conservationists and a great Australian.

I can still hear that catchcry in my head...'CRIKEY"

Hate just losing an Aussie, but he was an entertaining man, one who will be missed for that entertainment he provided.. Sadly, these guys get into a mindset where they trust animals over people and believe that they wont be harmed. All animals have defense mechanisms and with the right circumstances, your in trouble eventually. My wife recently watched a documentary about a guy who left civilization to live with bears every summer. Sadly, the one summer that his girlfriend decided to go along with him was the last trip out there.

Sad for it to happen. it was going to happen one day but who knew it would be this soon. i thought it would happen when he got alot older and by a Crocodile. I beleave what happen is a rare thing to happen. he died what he loved doing. My heart goes out to Terri and his kids.

    R.I.P Steve.

I posted another thread in the Lounge forum, just now. I checked back through the Lounge and there was no mention of Steve's death, so that is why I posted.
I did not think to look in the "Interesting links" forum. Sorry. Bazza

And ironically the first person to be killed by a Stingray for 60 years.

He was clearly enthusiatic about what he did and will be missed.

A sad day. A great man who put the profits from his multimillion dollar empire into buying habitat for animals. Probably a fitting way for him to leave this veil of tears. If only he had lived an extra thirty years first.
I hope someone can step in, grab the reins and keep the juggernaut rolling but there was only one Steve.

I was truly shocked when I read it on the front page of our local paper this morning. His wife was born and raised here in Eugene, so it hit the front headlines. His shows were very entertaining and he will be much missed.

    What a sad loss

I just watched a special on Animal Planet "Confessions Of a Crock Hunter"

I just have to say what an excellent show, it really opened a window into his life.

If anyone gets a chance to watch, do so, It looks like it running again.
( In USA, Comcast Broadband Cable, The Animal Planet Channel, Channel 68 for me in IL)

I'd have to say, it's a major hit to Australia. We now have no one that the world recognises as an Australian...

The man was a dying breed, every dollar he got from his business, he put back into the Zoo. And you can really see it by the clothes he wears, the cars he drives, and how much money he spends on every day things.

He also didn't let how rich and famous he was get to his head. A great guy, and he'll definitely be missed by most Aussies.

    Rest in peace mate.

Not sure of the date and time. Will post again, when I know them. Bazza

Now theres a controversy about people killing stingrays in revenge for Steve's Death. This is something I find wrong as Steve would not have wanted that.

Ill be sure to tune in :)

    They were gone in minutes.
People camped out overnight to get them.

They may be releasing some more tickets, soon.
Crocaseum (sp?) has capacity of around 5,000.

There's gonna be a hell of a traffic jam, next Wednesday, I reckon.

Police and Security will have to be right on the ball. Bazza
