Well looking at them closely, I would love to know what's grown there as it looks like farm fields and possibly they are using central pivot watering, hence the spot in the middle.

Not as elaborate and much more than the usual.
Tend to agree that they are farm fields.

Agreed, the farmers have simply used a circle instead of a square to utilize the maximum amount of ground without having to make some very uneven lines, look at the surrounding area, you can't get a square out of it unless you lose a large chunk of land.

Although I've known many farmers who I'm pretty sure are from another planet :-D

too much snow on the map to tell what the ground looks like. Also, why are all of your roads painted primary colours with large shields on them?

j/k I can't get the map to go into terrain mode.

Take a look at the jpeg inside the attached zip, seems to show an interesting variation on a circular harvesting experiment.

    agreed with david, central-pivot irrigation..

we have alot of potato farms near where I live, and they use the same technology, it is more cost-effective than standard irrigation systems.

Yes it is central pivot irrigation. The land there is all green in the late spring but dries out over summer. There are places in between that the sprinklers don't reach. The only product grown there is hay and alfalfa for livestock feed. What is the source or the irrigation you ask? Simple...my toilet. This is Cranbrook's spray irrigation site. Waste from my toilet flows down hill to the settling ponds at the north end of Cranbrook. Here it is pumped to another pair of ponds beside the northwest extreme "crop circle". Then it's pumped to the sprinklers, grows the hay, cows eat the hay over winter, we eat the cows.

@ collinsl We like the primary colours for our roads, and we paint the shields big on them so they will show through the snow.
The map should have a link in the top right corner to change from map to satellite.
