Well, you don't mention what kind of OS you are running, but typically you would use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on the machine that is connected to the internet. Depending on what kind of internet connection you have, I'd recommend getting a small router/switch to share the connection instead.

I've never set up ICS so I can't help you there, but I'm sure there are some basic walkthrus posted on the internet somewhere, just give it a google.

XP of course, but only service pack 1, not getting that gay sp2, so ICS huh? no idea what that is, so if anyone else can help me out there, that would be great, ill try to figure it out

and that would involve buying stuff, im 17 and i dont have extra money to spend, and i already have this thing that i got from a friend, so free is just great for me, thanx

The easiest place you can start is by going to your Start Menu, and choosing "Help", then in the index keyword box, type "internet connection sharing". Its got its own section with overview, enabling, configuring, settings, and troubleshooting sections.

If you decide you want other software, there is a bunch of third party stuff out there you could use. I once used a program called Proxy Server + or something. It was about 5 years ago, so I kinda forget, but that's another option you could look at.

Hrm. This is a tough one but i'll think back to my network + years. Go to My Network Places then on the left the Set Up a Small or Home Network Wizard. Make sure you on the computer that connects directly to the internet. Select the button that says This computer connects directly to the internet and other computers connect through this one. Click next until it asks you if you want to create a network disk. Say yes and run it on the other computer. If that doesn't work run the network wizard on the other computer and say it connects through another computer on the network to access the internet. Try these and report back.

What Ironsnipe said was pritty much right. I do this with my computers. You run that wizard on both computers. On the computer that has the internet connected straight up to it, you run the wizard, then restart, on the other one, you dont have to restart. I dont know why, but thats how mine work. I have Dial up, and I have internet sharing on, and my network cable going to a hub, and then to 2 other computers. Three computers on dial up.. FUN FUN!! :p
