CryptoWall

I feel like such a fool. I received a resume, on my work email, with .docx as the file extension, and my company has put the word out that we are hiring, so I opened it. It was the CryptoWall virus.

I've run Malwarebytes and I think I've rid my laptop of the virus. I have no restore points before the incident yesterday (though I should have several!). I do have an external drive with backup copies of most files, but I'd like to try and recover everything, not just everything prior to the last week (I backup weekly) - which includes my vacation photos. I just got back from Disneyland with my son and really want those pics recovered. I've deleted over 12,000 files with HELP_DECRYPT from my laptop.

I'm open to ideas and very appreciative of any and all help!

My laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

 

Thanks Tim. Do I have to reformat? If it's not a requirement to the fix, I'd rather not. My programs all seem to be okay and I do have a backup copy of 99% of the affected files.

 

To be clear, I have backups of my music, photos and PDFs and Word documents, not programs.
