CS:Source poor fps !

Hey guy's,

read a number of posts on similar subjects so thought I'd post my question to see if you could help...

I'm a big cs fan and recently purchsed cs:source. I noticed a big drop on fps (used to get a reasonable stable 60 on CS 1.6). I've tried all sorts of tweaks to help boost but can't get over 20-30 fps & it appears laggy even though I got a reasonable machine (I think lol)

Here's my spec

XP SP1
2.3 Gb Intel Celeron
768Mb DDR RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro (latest drivers from ati)
15" LCD Screen (set to 75hz)

I know I won't get over 75fps cause of the refresh rate but can anyone tell me anything I can set on my graphics card or cs:source to help ? At the mo, I have the control centre settings all set to boost performance and cs source set to low/medium

Any techy info on what / where my bottleneck is would be mucho appreciated !

ps someone said it was due to me celeron cpu but would that really screw me over ?

 

Before reading your entire post i was gonna point out that your celleron might be your choke point ; I have

AMD 2600+
1GB DDR
wxp-h
9800 Non pro.

My avg fps are 40-60 easily with max graphical settings running 1000x700

Try lowering your resolution to 1000x700 if your too high on that end.

 

i agree. i get around 60-70 fps when im playing

3.0 ghz processor Intel Pent 4
512 ddr ram
ATI radeon 9200 128mb
19 in CRT

i think you should lower your screen setting

and i think i agree with the person that says your celeron will screw you over

 

set ur video mode to: OpenGL > 1024x768, job done...works for me on cs steam, 256mb raedon gfx card
