Please read and run the sticky threads. HJT logs should only be posted after running the default cleaning procedures and then they must be attachments to your message.

    Please run the steps below.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem, boot into normal mode and make sure you follow the directions in the below link:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

    chaslang,

Sorry I forgot to mention that I had already run the Cleaning procedures per the "read and run me first" page. This issue has me a wee bit flustered, since I'm a fairly competent tech person myself. Please let me know if you want me to post up my hijack this log report.

You did not follow the directions in: Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

You have HJT installed improperly and on your Desktop:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Judy Harney\Desktop\HijackThis.exe

    You should correct this.

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).
Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IEXPLORE Loader] sysdll32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msci] C:\DOCUME~1\JUDYHA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\2005101623289_mcinfo.exe /insfin
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Cleanup] C:\DOCUME~1\JUDYHA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\20051016232817_mcappins.exe /v=3 /cleanup
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [IEXPLORE Loader] sysdll32.exe
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Uninstall BitDefender Online Scanner v8 - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete (if found):

    C:\winnt\system32\sysdll32.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\JUDYHA~1\Local Settings\Temp\2005101623289_mcinfo.exe <--- it would be best to delete all file in this temp folder that it allows you to delete.
    C:\Documents and Settings\JUDYHA~1\Local Settings\Temp\20051016232817_mcappins.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

Sorry, I didn't realize that hijackthis had to be in a seperate folder. I've been consumed by midterms and haven't been home until today. I reinstalled Hijackthis in the proper folder, and I followed the instructions you put in your reply. Here is the updated hijackthis file.

    Thanks
    Joe
