okay just a curious question for someone.
Is there a way for Windows Xp to determine if it has to many drivers or maybe Another program that would tell me how many drivers I have on a machine.??

    Hello NightFirer.
When you mean drivers, do you mean drivers installed on actual hardware? or do you mean drivers that are just files on your computer?

    Thanks.

okay To Answer ElderUsr Question, I mean the second one to your Question.

As for you Dom Luc I appreciate the advice and have done so on several occassions. But am at a loss for the reasons for my hard drive filling up so quickly.
Have a 20 gig hard drive with and 320 gig external one. Everything I can I can put on the external hard dive, But with only the Operating system, and money management program on the 20 gig hard disk. AT last current check of of free space I had 4 gigs out of 20.

    Odd question.
Have you run Disk Cleanup/Disk Defragmenter, and have you deleted your Temp Files recently?

Try those, that should clear up a little bit on your C: drive.

There's no such thing as "too many drivers". It is impossible to install more drivers than a PC needs. However, it is possible to have too few drivers installed, meaning that some devices won't correctly or at all. A 20gb hard drive is really small and it's not surprising that it gets filled up quickly. At least 10% of the drive (2gb minimum) is used by Windows XP, the service pack, updates, and drivers. Another 2-3gb is lost to parities, file tables, partition info, etc. System Restore and the Windows paging file can use an addition 2-3gb or so depending on the configuration. So, if you do the math, your 20gb is already down to about 12-13gb of free space. Installation of any programs on top of this, plus any updates and/or patches for these programs, plus any pictures or music, or whatever, and the drive is now at about 8-10gb free space. With hard drives being so inexpensive now, a smart investment would be a new 250gb (or larger) drive for your OS. It's a drag to have to monitor drive space so carefully all of the time. With the 20gb, if a game is installed, the drive would fill up. Larger games like WoW for example, probably wouldn't even install due to lack of space.
    Good Luck!!!
