I have a 2000 server that starts up but just hangs on the starting 2000 screen. Does the same thing when trying to boot into safe mode. Tryed hooking the HD up to another computer using a IDE to USB adapter but the computer starts to lock up while trying to read the HD (not really locks up but nothing you try to open..opens until you unplug it). I've ran Hitachi drivetest tool and it says everything is good. I found a program called DiskPatch that would fix it but...you have to buy a license for it to fix it. Does anyone have any other ideas? Or a free DOS program to repair the partition table?

Boot from a floppy bootdisk then type FDISK /MBR that recreates the Master Boot Record. See if that helps

No it didnt. Found out something interesting today...the computer I was trying to hook the hard drive up to was a XP pro computer and the computer would lock up....hooked it up to a Vista Bus. today and it took awhile but it finally read it. I finally ended up ghosting it to a new hard drive, even though it was corrupt, and then was able to run chkdsk on the new hard drive and it works fine.
