I use a Dell XPS13 touch screen 2-in-1 laptop with Win 10 Home. The cursor (controlled by touchpad) always shows up fully functioning upon bootup. And then... after maybe an hour, sometimes longer... the cursor would completely disappear! No kind of swiping/tapping/left or right click(s) on the touch pad or anywhere else on the keyboard can bring it back. Seems only a reboot can bring that cursor back again.

Sure, I use my touch screen most all the time, but occasionally, I do like to use the cursor/touchpad combo.

Any idea? Hope to fix this once and for all... but failing that, if someone can suggest a service, etc. that can be restarted... would at least be quicker than a full reboot.

    Just a suggestion:
Common sense says if it works when booted it should still work.
If after an hour it goes away ?
    Check your "sleep" settings.

I set all of mine to "never, never, never"

Oh PS.... there might be a nasty little POS in "Power settings" you might find causing trouble (go through screen saver settings to get there)

Thanks, Bill, but I don't believe it's related to Sleep. I too have my laptop set to 'never sleep'; and in any case, the cursor often disappears while I am working on the laptop. Of course, I am usually unaware... until I go looking for the cursor and not finding it. Like right now! :(

    I was reading up on the Dell XPS13 touch screen 2-in-1 laptop and it's left me with a bucket of questions;
Do thinghs freeze up when detached or just when clipped together?
Does the screen respond to touch when the cursor disappears and keyboard goes unresponsive?
Does this have the XPS Folio included?

I'm assuming you're at home with the 2 in 1 plugged in instead of on battery.
But yours has a bunch of cool new settings you can configure hand in hand with this "Modern Standby Mode"... one of them shuts off the keyboard.
I think that means it would switch to tablet mode somehow, reduced brightness and both cursor and keyboard disappear etc.
I don't have one so I can't say for sure.

I ask for more data because other users are waving redflags at some of these settings either doing the opposite of what they are supposed to or not working at all.

If you could get your system to say something, anything when it frezess (Like a system crash dump) it would help find out what's going on with your 2 in 1.
(read all about it here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/t...ance/generate-a-kernel-or-complete-crash-dump)

I still haven't a clue why my laptop's touch pad stops functioning and the cursor disappears (starting anywhere from 15 minutes to almost two whole days (if lucky) after boot up)!? But I've figured out how to get these working again without a full reboot: From Task Manager... shut down Windows process "Service Host: Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service". Despite a dire popup warning, Win 10 will automatically (and instantaneously) restart this service -- resurrecting the touch panel /cursor again.
