Cursor issue.

    im new to this forum thing so bear with me. I have a laptop that i recently formatted. i have a decent working knowledge of windows xp. im having an issue with my cursor. if i hold the cursor over an icon or folder, it highlights it, sometimes causing difficulty with moving files as well as inaadvertedly opening unwanted programs. cant find a menu with the opens to change the cursor settings that apply to this issue. please help.

    Sounds like you have your icons set up as links. To change this setting do the following:

    Click start > Control Panel

    Click the icon that says "Folder Options."

    In the first tab ("General") there should be three sections: "Tasks," "Browse Folders," and "Click items as follows."

    Under "Click items as follows" select "Double-click to open an item (single click to select)" rather than "Single click to open an item (point to select)"

    Hit Apply and then OK, and you should be in buisiness
