Cursor jumping all over

I have just recently installed Windows 7 and Office 2010 on both of my Dell computers; one desktop and one laptop. When I start typing the cursor moves to another area of the page; never had this problem prior to these installs. Thanks Jeff

 

If you have a laser mouse, blow into the hole underneath where the light is. Could be some dust or particulate matter got in there, might not be related to the install . That is where I would start .

 

I could be typing anywhere,email,word doc. or thread response and it will move half way thru the line.

 

Desktop or laptop??
Laptop - get the drivers for the touchpad and calibrate it so it is not that sensative, the jumping cursor happens on my latop when I rest my hands on the palm rest.
Desktop - get the latest mouse driver from the manufacture's site.

 

This might sound basic, but did you look if the mouse is Win7 compatible? I never knew a mouse could be incompatible with an OS or 64-bit or whatever it's issue was. A mouse seems so basic. Got a new laptop in the office and the usb mini-mouse we used with XP wouldn't behave with the new laptop. Bought a new one that said it was compatible and it was fine.
