Just want to make sure all this is compatible and ill have no trouble puttin it together. Also, this is a MAINSTREAM pc, they thought of buying a DELL, but i am helping them out instead. Is all this good stuff for the price?

You could go socket 939 and it would be only about 13 dollars more and be more expandable and you could still use that dual channel ram and actually ger the performance increase using the sckt 939 instaed of sckt 754. here is a list i made up real quick you could choose different parts but it might cost 20-30 dollars more but it would be worth it.

also, as for the 939 v. 734, it also comes with nforce4 chipset, much better than 3.

and...imo, im not too sure about rosewill, i've seen it only recently, don't know much about it...other than cheap...not too sure about longevity....also, check the sapphire radeon 9600's w/256 mb vram...same or even cheaper...good luck

side note...you ever use http://pricegrabber.com ? it compares prices from many sellers for computer parts, including newegg and zipzoomfly.

This IS the FINAL build info (hopefully if everything is compatible?)

Just tell me if it is all compatible, Socket 939 won't be an issue as they dont upgrade, they get new computers. So, this is what i hope, is going to be final. The price is just in range for them too.

*crosses fingers* its all good right?

GREAT bargain on a PSU for your build. Might take a look: 550 Watt!

    hehe, Quick Question though.

The build went WAY better than expected, was able to complete it in appx 5 hours (maybe a little less) but it seems a little slow...

I installed everything and didnt mess with the clock settings in the bios. When it starts up the CPU is recognized as an athlon 64 2800+.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819103485 is the link to the CPU.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813136147 is the link to the motherboard.

Now, im not all up to speed on the hyper transport and 800FSB stuff....

Right now the computer is assembled an running with Windows XP Pro x32, how do i set up the hypertransport? Is the 800FSB already running at 800FSB or lesser? I think its set to auto right now?

  21. ibbonkers

    ibbonkers First Sergeant

hypertransport should automatically be on , chip running at 800 fsb already so unless you're gonna overclock i'd leave it set there

the cases probably have different power supply options if you get the case and its not 420w contact newegg and have it rectified
