Customizing Notification

Hi

I have a prob which is very annoying and wondering why it occurs and would like to know of a way to solve said prob.
When I customize the taskbar and start menu properties, the wireless network connection icon shows up as being active even though it is not, because I do not use wireless network. I then set it to always hide. Thereafter it works fine in that it does not show.
However whenever I restart my PC the damn icon shows up in the notifica-
tion area and when I review the customization, once more it shows as hide when inactivé.
The fact that I do not use wireless connection, can anyone tell me why this occurs and how can it be resolved.
Any further info required, only to happy to provide in an effort to fix the problem.
