Cyberdrv CW058D question

I have a HP Pavilion 752N which came with a Cyberdrv CW058D CD rom/writer. I haven't had any problems with it until last night. My son bought a new audio CD yesterday and the drive won't recognize it. In Windows Explorer, nothing will come up when I put thid CD in, and Media Player doesn't see it. I put in other audio CD's, game CD's, etc. after it wouldn't read my son's new one last night, and it read THEM just fine, played the audio, etc.. His CD is okay too as because it plays fine in his Walkman and the stereo in his room.

Any ideas why my drive wouldn't read this one particular CD?

 

So, from all your other audio CDs, this new one is the only one that doesn't work?

Just a theory, but it may be a form of copy protection. Just grasping at straws here.

 

Might be a crappy filmware, if there is no updates for it then your out of luck

 

I suspected it might be copyright protection, but I figured the damn thing would still play through Mediaplay at least. Now granted, my son does want to rip it to put it on his MP3 player, but he did pay for the freakin' CD outright, so it's kind of frustrating.

 

Take it back and try from a different store might get lucky.
