PC boots but then comes up with Windows error message " Some components in CYBERsitter are disabled. Make sure you have allowed CYBERsitter in your firewall.120
You hit OK and then notice that your LAN network connection (Ethernet card) is in "Limited or no connectivity" mode - looking at the card it has an address that is nothing like the way the DHCP server (a Netgear router) is set up and hence it doesn't work on the LAN and I get IP address conflicts on other PC's

address should be standard default of 192.168.0.xxx

Network Card reports 169.254.3.95 (or similar)
    Subnet 255.255.0.0
AUtomatic Private Address (I have been told this means the address has been allocated by Windows as DHCP fail to provide an address)

I did read somewhere this is cuased by CYBERsitter problems and it does not allow the DNS to run or be found?

I do use CYBERsitter but now due to the above can not get on to the internet due to the mismatch of IP address

I can not uninstall CYBERsitter even though I have the password as it does not appear to be running (or may be in stealf mode) and I cannot see it or find it to remove!
Any ideas what I can try to remove it?

    Steve

Moved to the Software Forum. I'm sorry but this is not a malware problem. CyberSitter is a program you chose to install. Issues with it need to be worked in the Software Forum or with CyberSitter.

I was not sure of the forum to use (Sorry) as I think it could be that a virus / Malware has specifically changed or infected CYBERsitter to make it act in this way?:confused

:-D Fixed it - I asked SOlid Oak (they provide cybersitter) to see if I could upgrade to ver 11 and sid I was having trouble. They sent me a link to download a patch ver10, you install this, to reveal the system tray icon, then uninstall cybersitter - the problem is gone (after a reboot)

    link is

    http://www.cybersitterfiles.com/setupCS10.exe

    instructions

    To install version 10 patch
    1. Save the above program to a disk or flash drive on an internet enabled computer.
    2. Take that drive to the affected computer.
    3. Install the CD into the drive, and open the folder contained.
    4. Double click the .exe icon
    5. Run through the installation wizard
    6. Once installed, use the icon in the bottom right in the system tray to open the control panel if it does not automatically open
    7. Go to the ‘tools/support’ tab
    8. Click the ‘uninstall’ button
    9. Reboot computer

    Uninstalling CYBERsitter 9/10
    1. Ensure that all programs and your browser software are closed.
    2. Open CYBERsitter control panel - icon located in the system tray, looks like a colored Eye, titled "CYBERsitter" with mouse over the icon
    3. Choose the left menu under the Tools/Support icon
    4. Choose the Uninstall button
    5. Restart your computer after the uninstall routine is finished.
    6. After restart CYBERsitter 10 is now removed.

just a note - the uninstall sys it has failed - just reboot and it works!
