D-Link 520 Wirless question

Very cheap router with 4 ports and no uplink. (so I can't use it as a hub) I was trying to connect it to another router which is connected to an isp modem in order to get internet. First time when the 520 was a "virgin" it configured itself automatically and I had an internet connection for a while. But now when I'm trying to do the same configuration it doesnt detect the modem but treats the first router as isp. I tried to disable dhcp on the 520 and assigning it a uniqe ip as well as setting first router as dns but after restarting it gives me "limited connectivity" message. And no i can't ping anything outside 520. Does anyone have any ideas?
