Damned HP software "tray app"

Hello, I am hoping to solve a problem that arose last night when I started to delete my HP photosmart programs upon the purchase of a new Canon camera. I have always had issues with the HP popping up and slowing me down but the last straw was now that I dont need it, and tried to delete it has the annoying "tray app" deal that will not go away upon startup. I also cannot shut down the laptop unless I close it (tray app) a bunch of times and get lucky. I understand that the issue is from a startup issue and HP printers, I have never had an HP printer. SO I cannot install the disk to solve the problem as I have seen will fix it. I also cannot find my HP Photosmart disc. Is there any way I can fix this?? Please help, Thanks.
