    Hello,
I've never posted a thread anywhere so this is new to me.
I have a son that thinks he is some kind of hacker or something. (LOL he doesnt even know how to use WINZIP)
Anyway, I have 4 computers networked together and last week all of them started doing wierd things like explorer crashing, wireless looseing signals and other things.
I found out that the boy has been using some kind of bots for yahoo pool and from what i saw of them they are searching peoples IP addresses, ports, user names, and passwords. He had like 4 different ones going!!!
Anyway, I think he has angered someone and they retaliated by hacking MY whole system I have been working hard on maintaining. (with two teens it's hard) I have a DSL modem that is supposed to be protected with its own firewall. I use windows XP firewall, norton anti-virus, have used PCTOOLS Registry Mechanic and Spyware Doctor. I have done everything I can to prevent whatever the person has done but I can't find it. Or even find when and where they got in my systems.
I'm really mad at him and am going to wipe out the computer he is on and redo it, parent control it, and put as much protection I can on it but I don't want to do that to all four of my computers.
Can you help me find out if I am still being hacked and/or how to stop them?
    Thank you for your time,
    CS

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!:)

Gee...your son sounds like my son at that age! LOL

We usually recommend using a software firewall like Zone Alarm in addition to the hardware firewalls that are in place with DSL & cable modems so that incoming and outgoing connections can actually be monitored giving you more control over what is going on.

For starters, on your sons computer...

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis

Most likely but to avoid confusion for you and the Malware Fighters, it is better to address one computer at a time. Lets see what we see on your sons puter and go from there.:)

If you are pretty confident something has been hacked, I would restrict/prevent access to the other computers from your sons computer until you know it's clean...assuming you haven't already done so in order to prevent further problems.

Yes! One pc at a time please! Pick the one the seems to be the biggest problem.

And just an early warning, you said you are using Windows firewall. It is not a full firewall and does not provide adequate protection for your network. You will need to install a real bidirectional firewall at some point (probably when we finish removing any malware issues but sometimes it is needed before). Several free firewalls are mentioned in: How to Protect yourself from malware!

OK I have decided to eliminate one computer, just flat out reformat my son's, and reformat my wife's. So that left mine. I don't want to format it so I have ran all but two of the scans that you have requested. Only ones left are the Panda Active scan and the Hijack This.
I figured that I'd send these to start with.
I appreciate the help and hope that this will fix the problems I have been having.

We need the other two logs before we really get started.

But you should look at the CounterSpy log and fix some of the things it found yourself. Notice Bearshare and also all the stuff related to cracks. Uninstall and delete the files/folders.

Do you have Zango installed? Uninstall if yes. CounterSpy found it too.

Also did you install the keylogger mention by CounterSpy.
