Dave Chapelle in Mental Hospital?

Anyone have any idea why Dave Chapelle checked himself into a mental facility in South Africa? I heard it on the radio this morning and my co-workers confirmed it. Is this some weird joke he's pulling, or what's going on? I don't see it being drugs, because he would have went to rehab, right? And as far as I can tell, he's not crazy in the head, so what gives?

 

CNN is reporting that it is drug related. Seems he is going through the Martin Lawrence complex. He is funny as heck !!!

 

Wow... that's interesting... surely he didn't use real cocaine for his Tyron Biggums skits? Kidding, of course.

 

My favorite is the " Black-White Supremacist " !!!

 

I'm curious, too. I'm a fan of Chapelle's comedy.

 

That article didn't even acknowledge that he checked into any type of facility. It basically said that the progress on the next series has been delayed for unknown reasons, and went on to say that they do know it's not the network that is causing the delay.

I'm pretty sure Chapelle smokes marijuana, but that's hardly a drug that would cause someone to check into a mental institution. I could be wrong... maybe he's doing something other than marijuana, but it's a curious matter simply because they're trying to keep it "hush hush" it seems like.

Oh well... at least the 2nd season is coming out on DVD, and I'll definately be buying it! Whatever Chapelle checked in for, I hope he overcomes and perseveres. His comedy may offend some, but I can see his brilliance through his comedy regardless of what others might say or think. Long live Chapelle.

 

My oldest daughter...Chewy, says it`s exhaustion and cocaine addiction that sent himt to a "mental" facility. She`s a HUGE fan,and I`m inclined to believe her. As for myself, sometimes I find him amusing...but other times I wonder what would happen to a white performer if he did some of the racially based comedy Chappelle does.

yeah I was glad when Chappelle got his big break with this show... he's a really talented comedian (as he has proved)... i mean he went from being a marginal actor and decent comedian to a superstar in about 2 years time... $50 million for a 2 year contract extension!! who knows how he has reacted to the success... i'm sure there are alot of people treating him differently now that he's a superstar and is a multi millionaire...

i know alot of people are disappointed that Season 3 will now be delayed but Dave's gotta do what he's gotta do... i'm sure he'll be doing skits or making jokes about his stay in a mental institution when he checks out...

 

if they have a tendency towards that, it increases the chances you have to go crazy.
that';s what some research pointed out some time ago, but I'm hammered (last school day -> pulled a stunt at school etc, lots of beer involved) so I'm not going to be able to give you a link as I'm barely able to type correctly (gotta love typingcourses )

we decorated the school like it was the olympics, took people out of classes, threw them in the pool, thanked teachers for their years of having to deal with us and threw eggs at some dude who finished 3rd in Idols and was performing (very poorly) at our school
when that was done, we went to the pub and got hammered
