Happiness and sadness comes in such a mixture of shapes, sizes and timing, but none quite as mixed as today has been.

My son got his exam results today and has done brilliantly! 5 A's, 3 B's and 1 C - all excellent passes as he graduates high school and moves on to A levels.

As we were celebrating the news around the computer we saw one of the cats outside in the road. He had been the victim of a hit and run, clearly in the center of the road outside our home, laying down in a small pool of blood from his head wound. Thankfully he probably went very quickly due to the nature of the injuries, and we buried him this morning.

It just reminds me so very clearly that life is precious and you have to live it to the full and celebrate even the small things, as they can be quickly taken away from you. It also reminds me of the wisdom of G.T and how he loved the song "Live like you were dying" by Tim McGraw. I often, almost daily, think about G.T and the amazing copious quantities of hope he shared in these forums. Today has been another day when I have felt blessed by knowing him and the positive encourager he was, despite his own battles in life.

Don't forget to celebrate the small things life gives you even when the big things are sitting heavy on your heart too :)

Congrats to you all on your son's successes.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your cat. I lost mine last week. there were many tears shed.

It it true that you must live life to the fullest because you never know what lies ahead. I truely believe in the signature I have..."Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart"

    Best wishes Lev

That certainly is mixed emotions. Great news for your son yet overwhelming sadness for you kitty. I can see how any loss of life can evoke memories of friends who are gone also.

Great news on your sons excellent grades, Lev. :)

Sorry to hear about your cat, though. I know how heavily I would take it if anything happened to mine. :(

Yes, if there ever was a 'secret' to happiness, its being grateful for life itself, and all the small things that go to make up a big world, and a fulfilled life. Something which does elude me at times, I'll admit. But it's still good to be alive, for the most part. :cool

Just live each day as if it were your last, because one day it will be - or someone that you are close to. Nothing worse than living a life of regrets and hindsight.

    Yeah, I miss G.T., too. :(

condolences for your cat LEV we discussed our feelings for pets when LAURA lost her cat and agreed we would all feel the loss of a pet greatly.

    great line PHANTOM

i am overcoming depression after a monumental change in my life which has been documented here at an earlier time (no need to drag it out again) i feel blessed that i still have my life and my friends i am grateful for the support they have given me during a very dark period.

when you feel the world is getting you down just think about the less fortunate members of society
I.E. abused kids, accident victim's,the poor, the blind etc and remember you could be a lot worse off.

we tend to feel very sorry for ourselves when thing are not going as we planned but that is one of the hazards that come with life.

when you get out of bed in the morning just tell yourself "THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE"
