Daylight Savings Time

For those of you who have to change your clocks twice a year, this is the weekend. Don't forget to roll your clocks forward an hour.

And no, this is NOT an April Fools joke.

Now my clocks are all displaying the correct time.
Anyone else so lazy they just wait for the next time change?

 

Here in the UK we changed our clocks last weekend, They went forward an hour. I was very tempted however to turn mine back and then be 2 hours late for school

 

Well, I usually maintain two clocks, one which is on GMT with no DST, one with DST applied. This makes sure I can work out what time it is in various time zones

 

For some reason my laptop went forward two hours (I guess it got excited).

Changing back is harder, though, considering with digital clocks I can't make the numbers go backwards.

 

Here, in Queensland, Australia, we don't have to put up with this rubbish. Despite all attempts by the other Eastern states to make us adopt Daylight saving time. Now we have only 3 main time zones, instead of the 5 (I think it is) with daylight saving gone.

As an aside, I read somewhere that China has only one time zone across the country. Is that true? Bazza

PS: I also read somewhere that the USSR (when they were the USSR) set their clocks to daylight saving in WW2, and promptly forgot about it for 40 odd years. Don't know if that also was true, or just an urban myth. Also that they had / have 14 (?) time zones across the USSR due to its huge area, West to East. Bazza

 

Nobody in advertising could think of a better way to remind people to check their smoke detector batteries; that the ONLY reason we do this.

There is a move in congress here, instead of setting clocks back/forward each year, to just change the rotation of flushing toilet water instead...congress is good with those things.

 

Already checked that, and everything's fine (and synchronizes with time.windows.com). It changed backwards fine, but today it decided to overcompensate.

 

Maybe you'all should move to OZ where the toilets flush clockwise as standard. . Then on second thoughts...............

Actually Ben Franklin thought of DST first. It was thought the change would increase productivity. I have seen children in the winter waiting for a school bus in the dark, so as troublesome to change back, it is needed.

The thought is that a person is better at work in the morning. Does not work for those who sleep at their desks....

 

I was 1 hour late for work this morning, cant believe I forgot.!!!!!

 

I never can remember when the time comes, but my wife always catches on when her shows come on at a different time, all of the sudden, so I've yet to miss the forward or backward time change!!
