DCOM Server Process Launcher forced reboot

I have a two-week-old computer running Vista Home Premium. In the last few days, I receive the DCOM Server Process Launcher - Windows must restart message very frequently. Indeed, sometimes it pops up immediately after a reboot. I ran the READ & RUN ME FIRST scans (logs attached) and all of the scans showed up clear.

I don't know what to do next other than reinstall Windows.
The other similar posts don't seem to help this Newbee out.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Geeksquared

I have uploaded the HighJack This log. In addition, while running the program, I got a message teling me that "access denied to hosts file." I did a search - File and Folder options had already been set to show hidden files. I found host in the windows\system32\drivers\etc directory but Manage Attachments indicated that it was an invalid file.

    Thanks again for your help.

I opened the hosts file in a text editor. When I saved it as hosts.txt and tried to upload it, it was rejected as being too large for the file format.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your problems may not be malware, but we need to see all of the requested logs to know.

You appear to have both Avast and AVG8 antivirus programs installed too! See the READ & RUN ME.

You need to run ALL of the READ & RUN ME and attach all of the requested logs. You did not follow the instructions for using MGtools with Vista and as a result you log is incomplete. So you will have to do this again properly. Make sure you click twice to accept the TrendMicro HijackThis license agreement as stated. But first you need to run the other scans requested in the READ & RUN ME and attach ONLY the logs we requested ( we did not aks for a HiackThis log especially from the wrong version of HijackThis). The logs we requested are from
    • SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Malwarebytes
    • ComboFix - C:\combofix.txt
    • MGtools - C:\MGlogs.zip

After being suitably chastised, I returned to the READ & RUN ME FIRST file and started from scratch.
I have uploaded the following files:
    • SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Malwarebytes
    • ComboFix - C:\combofix.txt

Apparently, I am allowed only 3 attachments per post so I will follow this with another.

Meanwhile, I did have problems running MGtools. After 4 attempts, I will be attaching the most complete results I can. While running the program, during the "Refreshing System Information", I am consistently interrupted by a DCOM Service Launcher warning and, with one minute of additional computer time, the refreshing process stops before it is concluded. In the next post, I will upload the MGlogs.zip and the highjackthis.log which is not incorporated into the zip file. (I am assuming it would have been had the process completed.

After yesterday's sequence of reboot events, I threw in the towel and did a complete reinstall. I'm slowly loading software and, so far, the DCOM error does not appear. I will follow the precautions listed in "READ & RUN me first."

Thank you for your patience and your help.
