DDR2 and AMD (Socket 939)

I'm just wondering if there are currently any boards on the market which support DDR2 RAM and AMD chips. I've just been waiting for a board that can do this to upgrade but I haven't found one yet. Although I assume they must be coming soon.

    I just want these things

    socket 939 board
PCIe (perferably SLI support as well)
    DDR2 support
SATA 3GB/s (minimum of 4 Sata ports but I'd perfer to have at least 8 like most ASUS boards have, it doesn't matter if 4 of them are only 150)

OK, I know it's kinda demanding, but even if that doesn't exsist is there any AMD boards which support DDR2? Or any planned/announced baords that arn't out yet that do?

There aren't any motherboards out there for AMD that support DDR2, as it would/will require a socket change and a new CPU.

Which means, socket 939 isn't a possibility with DDR2. Will it happen?

It could, but its all rumor at this point as to whether AMD will support DDR2. Truthfully, from the benchmarks I've seen, DDR2 isn't anything to get excited about.

You got me looking even harder now since i could have sworn it was annoced awhile ago that they would in fact support DDR2 with socket 939 boards. But all I found upon looking just now was one mention at tomshardware (http://www.tomshardware.com/hardnews/20050504_145314.html last paragraph).

It's a shame I can't find more about it then that. Maybe I'll just forget about trying to get DDR2. I've only been interested in it recently since for a stick of 1gig it's only 10 bucks more then a stick of 1gig 3200. Seemed like it was worth it if the board exsisted.

If you are going for an AMD socket 939, then look for a motherboard using an nVidia nForce chipset.

They are currently the best performing AMD chipset and are a great combination.

MSI have some nice models in their Diamond range, and ASUS have the A8V-E Deluxe or similar.

As far as DDR2, I will echo the advice given above.

There is no performance benefit that I have ever seen, and it's been on the market long enough for it to mature.

Also, AMD64 has an onboard memory controller, as well as a dedicated channel that connects that memory controller to the memory chips.

It's this design that improves performance far more than what DDR2 is doing at the moment.
