Dead DeskTop Computer

Hey everyone,

I've had this computer for awhile now....about four years. This is an HP Pavilion 1.9 mhz with 1 gig of memory(Running XP SP2) and 80 gigs of hardrive. I have a couple of questions and hope that someone can help me out.
I will try to describe as best as possible of the syptoms that the cpu was having prior to it's sudden death.

Just recently it started freezing for no apparent reason..... you would be working on it or walked away from it and it would freeze. No response from the mouse.... no response from the on button(holding it) to turn itoff. The screen would stay frozen ....even the time on the clock would not change.

Now..... when I unplug it from the back and then plug it back up and turn it on ........ all that turns on are the fans and the dvd drives...but not the hardrive. All I get is an orange light for a few seconds then it goes aways.
It seems that there is no "juice" going to the hardrive to boot-up.
What I did is purchased another hardrive(ide).... install the new one and get the samething.
Prior to all this i've always done virus checks, spam, malaware ect.... and all was good.
I would love to here of anybodies opinion as to find out what could be wrong.

sounds like harddrive, did you set up the drive using a hard disk manager?
had a computer do that frequently, freeze>reboot use for 30m or an hour
then freeze again, got new cpu still working today
hope you get it going i have a Pavilion a6000n dual core 2.21GHz
