'Bout a year ago my HP Pavillion N5470 died on me. I put it to the side, and built a tower to do my work on. But now I've been wanting to get that thing up and running again.

After hitting the power-on switch, nothing happens (No beeps, fan doesn't turn, screen does nothing). This model has a front display for playing DVD's, and this display works. With it, I can see the battery charge, as well open the DVD/CD-RW, and it shows the (wrong) date/time.

I'm probably going to just strip it and Ebay the parts, but I wanted to see if anyone's had any experience with this yet.

A freind had the exact same symptoms with a Gateway laptop. Turned out to be the motherboard.

You can rule out the HD, like I did, by installing it into another laptop or get a 2.5" drive enclosure.

You can probably pickup a used motherboard for under $50. Check ebay.
