As stated at the beginning of the READ & RUN ME, PC specs are important. Your PC is too old, too slow, and does not have adequate memory to properly run Windows XP SP3 and other software.

This computer has worked just fine up till last week. The screw up came when I was forced to download "Windows Live Messenger"
    My main drive is "D"
    I've also include HiJackThis

You guys have gotten me out of trouble before I'm relying on you again.

    Thanks

While that may be true the fact remains that you are not having malware problems. You are limited by your PCs specs. The old saying of "the straw that broke the camels back" applies. Each update of any piece of software and any additional software that you install is having a toll on your PCs performance. Besides the recent Windows Live install you also recently update IE8. Also you recently installed the below:
    Code:
    2011-01-24 02:06 . 2011-01-24 02:06 -------- dc----w- d:\documents and settings\Lance\Application Data\Reviversoft
    2011-01-24 02:05 . 2011-01-24 02:05 -------- dc----w- d:\program files\Reviversoft
    2011-01-24 02:05 . 2011-01-22 20:33 16704 ----a-w- d:\windows\system32\roboot.exe
    2011-01-20 01:11 . 2011-01-20 01:11 -------- dc----w- d:\program files\Common Files\DivX Shared
    2011-01-20 00:48 . 2011-01-20 01:15 -------- dc----w- d:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\DivX
    2011-01-20 00:01 . 2011-01-20 00:04 -------- dc----w- d:\documents and settings\Lance\Application Data\vlc
    2011-01-13 02:44 . 2011-01-17 22:22 -------- dc----w- d:\program files\QuickTime
    2011-01-05 23:20 . 2011-01-24 17:28 -------- dc----w- d:\program files\Wise PC Engineer
This is not malware and if you think your problems are related to this, then uninstall it and any other new software you installed recently and see if things improve. You are just running too much for your PCs specs.

While there are some miscellaneous items to remove, they are not malware problems. They are just left overs and would not affect performance. If you want to keep this low performance PC running, you will have to reconsider items that you are running at startup. I will give you some items to cleanup below which may help performance a little. None of this is malware.

    Uninstall the below:
    Ask Toolbar
    Search Settings 1.2.1

I also suggest that you uninstall Google Update Helper

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Computer seems a heck of a lot faster thanks. I knew U could do it AGAIN!!:-D

    Files attached:
    ComboFix.txt
    MGLogs.zip

When ComboFix shut down the computert and started up again several programs also started up, even tho ComboFix says NOT to run any programs.
I just let the computer do its own thing.

When ComboFix finally did finish TrendSecure.com popped up, so I just closed it.

I would not think that there would too much of a change since ComboFix did not work 100% properly. You have even less memory available right now than previously so any improvement you think you see may be short lived. You just do not have enough memory and your PC is slow.

To finisih fixing the NON-Malware things ComboFix missed, we will use a simple registry patch and then I will give you final instructions since you are not having malware problems.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
