Deadliest Warrior (warning: Contains spoilers)

Has anyone else watched this show yet? I have the DVR set for the series. It's obviously doomed to not last long, but It's great. The idea is that they take 2 types of warrior that would have never had the chance to do battle, being from different parts of history.. The analyze their size and strength, use computers to test their weapons, short, medium and long range, and then simulate 1,000 fights (one on one) to come up with the best warrior.

Here's what's been done thus far. (I've underlined the winner)

Round #1: Gladiator vs. Apache
Round #2: Viking vs. Samurai

Next week is: Ninja vs. Spartan

I think they're going to give it to Ninja next week, because they seem to favor discipline over brute force.

No way. It's got to go to the Spartans, the most militaristic and disciplined culture in history. I'd really like to see this, but probably won't. They only show American comedies over here. Nothing cultural or historical. Mores the pity.
Would it be possible for you to post the results. If it's not too much trouble of course. This interests me a great deal.

I can keep this up to date as long as I remember. Youtube has a lot of videos already, I don't know if they are available in your country, but you should be able to watch most of the show on there. I saw the first episode broken into a few pieces, but better than nothing.

Thanks for the link, Pax. Yeah, got all of it. The adrenaline started running just watching the opening credits. :-D That was some awesome weaponry on display. Throwing a seven foot spear with each hand at the same time? Incredible. And I shudder to think about getting an arrow in the eye at 45 feet. Ultimately, I think the Samurai deserved the win. But still, the Vikes (my American football team, by the way) were a close match for them. Going hunting for episode one when I log out. Great stuff. Thanks again.

No problem with the link. I like the show, some channel did something like this a few years ago with animals, like rhino's v.s crocodiles, and it was pretty good too, but they don't last long. This show's going to run out of Warriors at some point, and unless they resort to something like New Yorker Vs. Babylonian, It's going to have to end, you know.

I believe that one is called 'Animal Face-off', on either Animal Planet or Discovery Channel, on cable/sat. T.V., depending on where you are.

WTF? They only gave the Spartan 65%? :-D In fact, I thought it would be a lot closer. If it was stealth and cunning versus brawn and brutality, the Ninja would win hands down. It's been proved by special forces on many occasions. Love this programme. Next week~pirate versus knight. Captain Jack Sparrow and the knights who say ni. Bring it on. :major

I tried watching a previous one that I posted, and it didn't work, might not be available tomorrow, just FYI you could be watching it in parts on youtube. I'll get right on the one playing tonight. Give people enough time to watch online.

Closest one yet. Victory by seven. I watched the pirate v. knight a bit ago, and I have to say, on the mock fight at the end, how the pirate survived a smack on the napper with a mace is beyond me. The pirate could never have won that match-up. About the only one I disagree with so far.

when it came to ninja vs spartan the ninja shoulda won the number one problem i saw with the simulation was that when the ninja attacked he screamed letting the spartan know where he was if he didnt do that he would have been undetected resulting in perfect kill

I agree, but the idea of the show is to have them battle. A ninja could hang out for half a day and wait for the Spartan to walk by. I like the idea of the show, but they could go a little more into technique. I liked this last one though, had an outcome you would expect, and I think they did most of the weapons justice while testing them. :major

It's weird, but I got to see the first two episodes, then had to visit You Tube to get the others. Problem is they show only the end fight.
Never noticed the caption regarding availaility either.

I thought this was a pretty good one, for picking 2 specific people. Next week should be interesting, they are calling it the most controversial episode to date, will be the Taliban v. the IRA.

Well, they snuck the season finale in on me over the weekend. The show normally airs on Tuesday night, but this one was last night (Sunday) and they call it "it's new time" so I'd have to say it's going to be on Sunday's from now on, and probably try another season? This week was a decent one.

Taliban Vs. Irish Republican Army

With the weaponry, and how they were reacting to it, I thought they were going to have to go with the Taliban, but the IRA proved themselves when it came down to it. Very interesting weapons, from RPG's and Nail Bombs, to Sling Shots, which they called catapults, and AK-47 Bayonets.

There's no way the IRA would beat the Taliban,the IRA are a bunch of rag tag guys with a grudge,the Taliban are a military trained entity with a death wish,they are holding off two of the greatest armies ever assembled those being the US and UK forces,there are places still to this day in Helmand province and elsewhere that are too dangerous for our soldiers to go.

I'll have to see that episode I want to know how they got to that conclusion.

It's BAAAAAACK! Last night, seasons 2 premiered. 2 episodes.

The first episode was a recap of the first season, then they split the winners into pre and post gun powder and had the two best from each group battle each other.

For Pre-Gunpowder, it ended up being the Samurai against the Spartan in a pretty close fight. But it was the shield of the Spartan that helped secure victory.

For Post-Gunpowder, it was the Russians with their Spetsnaz against the Irish Republican Army. Again, another close battle, but it was discipline and training, along with superior weaponry that helped the Russians keep the IRA at bay.

And then came the premiere of season 2, and it started with a BANG.

United States S.W.A.T. against the Germans and their GSG 9 (whom incidentally train together). It ended up being really close. But they gave it to the USA based on field experience over training. SWAT, being called upon more frequently than the GSG 9. You want to talk about weaponry though, it was a really cool show. The way those sniper rifles deliver a head shot, is something you just have to see.

I believe next week (or next episode) is Atilla The Hun vs Alexander The Great.. Any thoughts?

 

Well I'd have to say Alexander would take it, but is this Alex angainst Atilla in a 1vs1 or army vs army?

Kind of where the show gets unrealistic, I loved the show, really interesting but you can't pit 1vs1 all the time like they do, take the Spartan vs Ninja for example, the Spartan would lose because the Ninja would slit his throat while he slept, thats how Ninjas fight, but 100 Ninjas vs 100 Spartans face to face, no contest Spartans would steam roll them. I also wish they would use the same tests for both sides, Jelly man for one side and pig for other is hardly and acurate test. Great show none the less, just could be so much more.

But if it's army vs army then Alexander would take it due to superior military tactics and intelligence, 1 on 1 Atilla would bash Alexanders brains in :-D
