Death Of A Sound Card!!

I am sure that my sound card has died on me. I am going to remove it and have it checked. I want to know what kind do I need?? The deceased card?? is a SOUND BLASTER LIVE VALUE from Creative. I only want a card for music downloads and burning CDs not for Games or Vidios. Anyone have any suggestions?? ODIE

 

Depends how much you want to spend really. You could just replace it with another Sound Blaster LIVE 5.1 card, which would run you $29 from newegg. If you want a little better sound quality though, I'd reccomend a Turtle Beach "Santa Cruz" 6.1 card. It runs about $48 from newegg, and can play dolby digital, thx, and most of the good stuff.

 

i'd go for the av-710 from newegg for $25. uses a dac that quite seriously pounces on the audigy2 zs for quality. it's the absolute best bang/buck i can think of right now, unless you might want to get something from E-MU... but they run from $100 up + the million adapters needed to plug it to your speakers

 

Vampboi & Strogg : Thanks for the recomds. I'll check these out. One other thing, Do I have to get rid of the software installed as sound blaster before I attempt to make new Installation?? I don't want to confuse the Installation process. ODIE

 

I checked w/ newegg.com and the reviews on this card were Excell. I am thinking of getting this one. Do I uninstall all old software and drivers before I make the new installation?? I am comp dummie!! I am learning as I go on some things. ODIE

 

I sent my comp to a MS tech for a cleaning of my system. He reinstalled my sound card. Its was OK. So I am back in service. I want to thank everyone for their help OLDIE
