I trusted MajorGeeks as a source of safe, quality software, but I'm super-distressed that I installed DeepBurner from this site. There is NO UNINSTALL function!! Now the computer seems slow, & the only apparent fix is to download MORE *mystery* software in order to remove it. What was that old song? "She swallowed a spider to get the fly"? PLEASE remove this garbage from the site!!!:cry

What operating system are you using? I think I had some compatibility issues after install even though it says Win 7 is okay. I also don't have an uninstall function, but there's no need for panic.

    Have you got this folder:

    C:\Program Files\Astonsoft\DeepBurner?

Also it may have left behind a registry entry, just search for Deepburner and it should crop up. :)

Did it actually run at all?
Who suggested downloading more "mysterY" software to remove it?

Kestral, thx 4 your reply. Yeah, I guess I can wrench on the registry, (though that a bit mysterious to me.)

When one searches for "uninstall deepburner", there's lots of links to "uninstall software" that make me even more nervous about installing them.

Not so much p[anicking as I'm frustrated that a (should be) simple task is complicated by system maintainence, even as I'm trying to get important work done.

Nonetheless, let's get this steaming Estonian pile off the site, agreed?

If you just search for Deepburner that should be enough. It's a shame Revo Uninstaller doesn't sense it to remove either.
I have something for you to use instead of manually editing the registry yourself. Are you 32 or 64 bit?

    I understand.

I have no say over that, however I shall alert the admin to it. ;)

Weird, not updated since 2008 before that bundleware began. There's better choices. I use BurnAware however I am going to give this another test run today and remove if confirmed.

Let me start by saying this sort of comment pisses me off. 15 years coming up and now we're trusted, past tense. My experience has been you either see the proof or don't want to see it, hence here's what I found and I am walking away after spending 15 minutes of my day on this.

The uninstall is there and working fine. Rebooted after install. Rebooted after uninstall. Not even a folder left behind.

    Have a nice day.

Well, sorry I offended you. My experience with this package was different. It doesn't show up in the uninstall list. A search reveals many people have had this problem. Suddenly, the whole system is slowing to a crawl. Of course I'm going to be stressed out that the small favor I was doing for a friend was becoming a day-long project. Yes, the experience shook my confidence in the site as a reliable source, but the response I've seen here does a lot to restore my faith. Still, I recommend this ware be removed as it is out of date & quirky on at least *some* systems, (Dell Precision / Win 7 Pro, in this case.)

I wish I could but the problems seem niche and in computers, to have one thing not work in a certain configuration is not all that rare since there are thousands of possible hardware combinations. We appreciate your support. We almost always respond, especially in email as we are VERY hands on. Anyway, give BurnAware a shot :)

While I do not have a problem with the prorgam ( just like Major Attitude ) let's see what we can find on your system and remove it manually if necessary.

Now download MGtools and save it to your root folder. This program does not install into the registry. It just creates a C:\MGtools folder and puts all the files it needs in that one folder.

Now it is best to disable any protection software now and also disable UAC before trying to run the below MGtools program to avoid having your protection software get in the way of it running.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista, Win7, or Win8, make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

Now attach this log file >> C:\MGlogs.zip

(See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )
