Defect icons? Pc cant open programs? In fact Im not really sure what is wrong..

So, my laptop (running windows Vista) was recently highly infected with Vista Anti Virus 2011. Probably still is but doesnt show any signs of it. During the cleaning process we installed an unfortunate program, STOPzilla, but decided to remove it. Now, however, the computer wont open programs directly but strictly through the 'open with' program. No matter which icon we click we HAVE to go through the 'open with' function, find the program within the computer itself and then we can finally run it.

Im probably not in the right forum, but since I have little to no clue about what is going on I also dont know which expert to turn to. Do help, if you can...

I strongly suggest you go through the Malware Forum's Read & Run Me First thread, perform all of the suggested steps, and attach the requested logs to a new thread in that forum.

If you're still having issues after the Malware gurus give you clearance, post back here and we'll get you straightened out.
