Defrag won't run after launch

Running SP2 XP PRO

I just realized my defrag doesn't work. It launches fine, but when I click Analyze, or Defrag nothing happens, it just sits there.

Does defrag depend on any services to run? I disabled a few.
Never had this problem before.

Is there a program I can DL that is as good or better han windows defrag?
Will Norton speed disk be a good replacement or do you still need defrag with that?

How much free space do you have, vs. the size of your drive?

 

Have you tried to start a command prompt (cmd) and run defrag.exe ?

Do you have any entries in the Event Log ?

Note the service DCOM Server Process Launcher is required by defrag. Ensure it is set to Automatic.
