defragmenter help!

Can anybody help me my microsoft me edition maintenance wizard no longer works not sure why? need to defrag my system can you help!

 

Go to:

Start > All Programs > Accesories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

 

Rember to close all programs, and set screensaver to hours, not minutes, and
make sure all power options are at never, to make defragging faster.

 

That close programs includes your antivirus.

 

Thank you Lev and baklogic for your reply but I did not make myself clear my disc defrag trys to work but unable to for some reason plus my MS help files are no longer accessable for some reason so I have a few problems

 

Hold down control as you start up, and from the choice - choose "SAFE MODE".
Then try defrag.

Probably the best start would be to use Scandisk

Other defrag programs, can make problems of their own, unfortunately.
The other option you have is system restore, to a time you know everything was working alright, if you still cannot access the help files.

 

Thank you Baklogic Idid the start up thing and was able to defrag still got lots of probs though ie help files tried to download from microsoft but my computer said that I had a newer version so its still inside somewhere any ideas??

 

It is as good a tool as any in ME.
