I was looking for a recommendation for a defragmenter and have read the threads on this forum with user's suggestions.

I was searching for a defragmenter whose uninstall process was clean. I had diskeeper light on one pc and it was a pig to remove. I subsequently discovered many such threads as regards the uninstall on that prog. I too could not correct the issue and eventually had to restore an older image I had saved of that volume.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Is there a defrag for dummies that I could use?

I don't remember the last time I did one, probably over a year ago. I've got basic computer habits, e-mail, surfing, the odd downloading.

    Thank You
Sorry for hijacking your thread r_r .

Uh, yes it does. Graphical User Interface. It is meant to be used simply, with very little options. ;)

No gui, would mean command line only.

Between jkdefrag and mydefrag, there are user interaction......

You would be amazed at how much faster your machine could be after a good defrag.
Best thing is to find one and use it exclusively. They all seem to have different ways of sorting, so different ones will constantly say you have a high fragmentation rate. It would be, by its standards, but not by the one that arranged them first.

Hi! I gave JkDefrag GUI a try.

Had some difficulties unzipping... but I eventually got it running, lol.

The defragging took about an hour last night. Excited to watch and see if speed improves, wasn't lacking much really. I appreciate the explaination about how different defraggers sort in their own way, that always had me confuzzled and frustrated when I tried something that I had hoped would be suitable to my lack of skills, lol.

    Thanks so much guys!
