Delayed Display

I have just built a PC: Nvidia NGuru Motherboard, athalon 3700+, 1 gig ram, nvidia 128 mb tv out graphics card, sata hard drive, pioneer 16x dvd rewriter, 7.1 channel soundcard (came with motherboard). Switched it on & it is so much faster than my old computer, however there is something wrong with the display it seems to take longer for things to load on the screen, usually when browsing it seems to load the page in strips & the win xp logon screen it takes ages as it flickers. I thought it may have been the refresh rate it is set at default 60mhz, when I go into to display properties it wont let me change the refresh rate it is just set on default & there is no option to change it. I have a crap old monitor as I'm going to get a new one next month when I can afford, but it worked fine on my old PC, so I don't know if that's the problem. I bought all my hardware new except the Graphics card which I bought from my friend & he didn't have the driver disk, I need to know the exact spec of it so I can download the drivers of the net, but do you think this is the problem? if it is the refresh rate I'm screwed cause XP wont let me change it!

Yes, it does sound as if the fact that you don't have a video card driver is the biggest part of your problem. Did you load the chipset drivers for your motherboard? Download and install Everest from the Diagnostics section of the Downloads section and run it. This should tell you what card that you have and possibly point you to the place to download it. Hope this helps!

 

I installed all the drivers from the disk that came with my motherboard, & when I restarted something was conflicting, as I couldn't get any programs to work after, so had to do a sys restore. I will download everest tonight & give it a try thanks, I will also have a look on Nvidia's website for my graphics card drivers.

 

Downloaded Nvidias latest drivers, works like a dream!!!!!
