Delete Web Cam in Yahoo Messenger

I have a Pinnacle Studio 9 card installed (video Capture card), It is possible that when someone (maybe even me) may have selected it as the 'web cam' when using Yahoo!Messenger.

I can't change it to a different camera, because that requires me to bring up the web cam first.

Bringing up the web cam hangs Yahoo Messenger (a whole 'nother issue)

Surely there must be some configuration someplace where the "chosen camera" is described or selected. However this place must be something that the unistaller doesn't delete, because I've uninstalled and re-installed a number of times.

So maybe... just maybe... if someone knows where this info is stored, I can reset it and have it ask me what web cam it wants me to use.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks Steve,

Unfortunately, the VidCap program hangs too. :( Again, it seems to be trying to open a Video Capture device that is not my Web Cam.

The only thing that I can think that would be would be the Studio 9 card. I really don't want to have to pull it and go through all the issues with that. but it looks like I'm going to have to. :p

    Problem SOLVED!!!!

Thanks for your suggestion Matacumbie, although that did not solve the problem. I did update to the latest fixes (and now have to convince my wife to upgrade to the latest version :D )

What I did do was some more Registry sluething. Found the following:
    HCU\Software\Yahoo\Webcam\Upload\PreferredSrc
    it had value of 0xffffffff
I changed it to a value of 0 (0x00000000) and viola! The cam test at Yahoo asked me to choose my source!
Yahoo Messenger asked me to choose my source!
    I'm back on-line.

Interesting that the value has stayed at zero, and Yahoo has never asked me for which cam to use again (though I am able to go to the selection screen now). So I think this is more of a flag, rather than the actual selection criteria.

Anyway, I want to thank you again Matacumbie because you did help by asking questions and making suggestions.

Sometimes you just need to be prompted. Because even if the prompting is the right answer, it sometimes leads to the correct answer

Good job. Glad you got it sorted out. :)

This will probably help a few people along the way.
