Dell A960 All In One

This is a rebadged Lexmark printer and looks like it should accept a Lexmark 82 & 83 ink cartridge. There is a small fin on the Dell cartridge not on the Lexmark cartridge and a post, that sticks out of the top of the cartridge holder lid, slots into a gap on the cartridge. With the post removed the cartridge fits but it will not print a whole page properly the first line looks good but then it fades like the cartridge is out of ink during the alignment process it gives the code that tape needs to be removed from the ink dispenser. Any idea how to make this printer accept the Lexmark cartridge?
