I'm trying to get a Dell Inspiration E1505 video to work but I don't know if the problem is with the invertor or something else. The owner said that the display got smaller and then went out and when I boot it up it gets a slim green vertical line on the rght side of the Dell logo. Any suggestions??

Does the Dell logo appear normally? If so, then it isn't the inverter because you wouldn't see the Dell logo; you see a very black screen with maybe the logo faintly if you looked closely.
Have you attached an external monitor? What does the display look like on it?

I'm sorry I didn't make it more clear but the Dell logo is the one on the bottom of the screen not on the screen itself. Its not on the viewable part of the screen its on the body of the screen. And it looks great when using external monitor. In fact I'm typing this thread on the Dell with my monitor. Also there is quite a bit of light on the screen, it's black (except for the green line) but you can tell its on.
