I am not sure if I am posting in the correct forum but I am having issues with both of my laptops. But currently my Dell is the one working, for the moment. The issues that I am having is that when I go to turn on my computer, or reboot, it will beep several times and then bring up a screen with two options. The options are to either start with Windows Vista or run a memory diagnostics. When I try to hit enter or hit the arrow keys, most of the time it won't do anything. It sits on the screen. I have to do control+alt+delete in order to do it again just so I can get the enter key to work correctly. When I am able to get to my account, I have to enter my password. My laptop keyboard seems to have issues because it won't allow me to enter the N button unless I plug in my desktop keyboard. After I am in my account, I seem to have issues getting into the internet browser, other applications that I need to get into. I will hear a noise constantly, like I have hit the wrong button or something. I will hit certain keys and get completely different text or the letter b will be repeated all on it's own, like someone is hitting the button. This started about two weeks ago and I am not sure what I did to cause it. I have just set my Dell to factory settings, hoping that it will fix the issue but that didn't work. It still has issues. This is my only computer since my HP is also having issues, which I will ask about at a later date. But any help that I can get on the Dell would be helpful. I haven't had the best of luck with my laptops the last three months. Thanks in advance!!!

Count the beeps and mention if they are long or shirt. Those beep codes are trying to tell you what is wrong with the laptop.

Since it mentions memory, have you taken out the memory and reseated to be sure it is okay? Have you run a memory test to see if the stick(s) are good?

I also found this 2 year old thread

hit F2 and see if you can get into the BIOS.

I can't exactly count the beeps but they are very short and they are anywhere from about 5 beeps to 20 (guessing since they are beeping to fast to count). After I am able to hit enter, it is now beeping another 5 to 10 beeps before allowing me to log in. I'm still having issues with the keyboard on the laptop and still have to use the desktop keyboard. Does this mean anything? The download you sent me isn't working either. What do you suggest?
