Dell inspiron 9300 missing Com Port

    I have a dell insprion 9300 1.70m..haha
    My issue is, all of a sudden I'm missing my Com Port. I need it to run certain software. Where is it and how can I retrieve it...

    A little more info helps alot, What Windows version and service pack are you using? (I know they came with XP as default but you may have installed another), had you installed or updated anything before this happened, have you been trying to remove malware?

    What software?

    In Device Manager do you have any devices with yellow ! marks and if so what?


    Dell drivers for XP HERE for your model laptop.

    I would from that list install the Chipset driver and reboot, then install the Alps driver under the Input Device Drivers heading, then this Connexant driver from HERE
