software problems?? no more . . . with the new system restore feature - they apparently partitioned the harddrive with the factory image of your computer locked safely away next to a diagnoostic program for your hardware . . . this featuere only being implemented this past june till present - -

but to make a long story short - ive been posting about a slew of problems concerning my new computer - but - they are now all gone after i started over fresh - no disk no hassle and in no time at all - like 5 minutes - i was back at the beginning and the computer was running at warp speed.

DELL i love you - sorry - i JUST learned about this feature and it took my software woes totally away

ok - i know im gonna get flamed for the hyped dell comment . . . but for those that didn't know this option exists . . . i mean it brings a new meaning to the term "saving grace" when speaking of a surefire fix for software problems - and the diagnostic lets you know if its a hardware issue - if not , you're home free with system restore

    glad to hear it.

if you like that you'll love Norton Ghost, imagine doing the same thing except
you could have restored all your games,OS,and other software, and settings (in other words everything) back to thier previous state (install, or whatever)
if you already know about it ignore my presumption, but if you don't it's a kick butt program.

Maybe your PC wouldn't have crashed at all had it not been a Dell..... just kidding! ;) I have a Dell laptop and am pretty impressed with it. And the restore function is pretty handy.

Dell hardware diagnostics serve as a cop out for technicians on the phone.

They do not help, or work.

I've run them three times on a laptop and had it pass all tests, only to find out the onboard video on the mainboard was fried.

Worked for 6 months or so before it fried again.

    Again the diagnostics said, passed.

    Replaced board.

Fixed it for another 6 months.

Finally Dell fixed it in house instead of their contracted technicians.

    Go figure.
