dell latitude d600 will not turn on

I recently acquired a dell latitude d600 laptop with xp pro sp2. It has been working flawlessly for the last few weeks then yesterday when I turned it on nothing. No lights, no fan, nothing. I know the battery and ac adapter are good as I put them in my friends d600 and they worked. I put his in mine and nothing. I tried pushing the dock port on the back as I pushed the power button and tried reinstalling the ram sticks and hard and video drives to no avail. Any ideas anyone?

 

daveola, I think this is hardware related, so try the hardware forum. This being an *oldish* lappy, I hope you find an economical solution. Cheers....

 

sikvik, thank you very much for your reply. Perhaps I should switch over to hardware forum. But, plodr, my friend is gone for the holidays so I cannot put his reserve battery in my laptop. However, I'm curious, is it possible that a bad reserve battery could cause this symptom? I always thought the cmos battery was just for the clock and bios password. But my laptop seems to have no power at all? Thanks for replying.
