Dell Latitude HD needs extension connector?

I have a second hard drive and caddy for a Dell Latitude d610 but found that it requires a "connector extension". There is one on the OEM hard drive, I discovered, when I thought I had seated the new drive but the computer couldn't see it. All it does is extend the connector, pin for pin, about 1/2 ".

I CANNOT find that part anywhere, Google be praised, and wondered if anyone else has faced this and found the part.
