My laptop was recently reformatted and therefore the printer was automatically uninstalled. I just reinstalled it and opened the Dell All-In-One Centre but when I tried to scan a photo it informed me that it wasn't working. It recommended a list of actions - unplug the power supply, remove the USB connection, restart computer, etc. I tried them all, but nothing worked. So I uninstalled the printer again and restarted my computer. When I tried to reinstall the software once more nothing happened. I got passed the first stage of setup - clicking that I wanted personel setup, but after that it just stopped and disapeared. I even tried going through Start>Run> and starting the setup manually but it always ended the same way.

    Any help? or suggestions??

    Thank you,
    DaddysGirl

    Hi

What model laptop (make and model version) do you have?
    What Windows version?

In Device Manager are there any yellow ! marks by any devices, if so what? just wondering if a system driver is missing as Printers normally install ok, when you follow the makers instructions as some want USB plugged in first and some not.

Also disable your antivirus application when you attempt to install the Printer driver, at times the antivirus software can cause drivers to not install corectly.

Do also install the latest or last known driver for this model Printer if you are using XP then its download is HERE (also do re-download it and try as your version maybe corrupted), if not then do let us know what version of Windows.

If you get any errors when installing or running the printer, do tell us what they are in full as the message appears.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1300 and I have Windows XP. I checked Device Manager and there dosen't seem to be anything wrong. although there is no printer tab at all...

And i followed the makers instructions to a tee...

When I try to now plug in the USB to my printer a message appears as a speech bubble in the bottom left corner and it says 1st:"Found New Hardware" and a window opens 'Found New Hardware Wizard'. I have tried installing it via this way but it still didn't work. Then a 2nd bubble appears telling me "Found New Hardware: A problem occured during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly" evenwhen I don't properly try to install it.

I don't know if that helps at all... but there ya go.

I have tried to install that driver 3 or four times and nothing seems to work. I try saving it to different places and when I unzip it nothing seems to happen...

I feel I'm doing everything right, but nothing is working. Any thoughts?

    Hi

Could you tell me what Service Pack your XP is at (be it SP1, Sp2 or SP3?) and enter Device Manager and if you have any yellow ! marks by any devices please mention them all? juts hav ea feeling you are installing the Printer drivers ok but as you reinstalled Windows that soem core drivers are missing that allow the likes of USB to communicate properly as in the Chipset.
