Dell Precision 470

After spending hours on Dells website and still not any wiser I really hope somebody came help me.

I have a Dell Precision 470 Workstation. It has 2 Xeon 2.8Ghz Processors with HT (Hyper-Threading). These are the mobo details:

Am hoping to upgrade the CPU to the following:

Xeon 3.8 GHz Processors with HT:

1. Socket Type 604
2. sSpec No: SL8P2
CPU Speed: 3.8GHz
Bus Speed: 800Mhz
L2 Cache Size: 2 MBytes

Does anybody know if this particular processor is compatible with my motherboard. Any help greatly appreciated.

I've had a quick look around and didn't find anything definitive.

Checkout this thread in the BadCaps forum, post #31 is from someone who has dual 3.4's. Note the forum - BadCaps, it does indicate that there could be some problems about to happen on this motherboard.

 

Another link - this one has 2x Xeon Irwindale 3.6Ghz processors with the 0P7996 board...
