Dell Studio 1555 battery adapter wont charge..

Hello, I just noticed this problem last night.
Ive had this laptop for 2 years now, and no problems at all.
If i unplug my battery adapter from the laptop it will instantly die.
The laptop says that I have a 100% charged battery....
When I plug the battery adapter when the laptop is off, the indicator blinks red 3 times, and once white then nothing..
Ive searched the web, and updated my bios and quickset and nothing worked.
The recent bios was suppose to fix this problem but its still happening.

Any thoughts?? I went into my bios and it recognizes the battery but it wont charge...........

if the AC Adaptor runs the computer without the battery the adaptor is OK. It only supplies power to run and computer and or the charger. Charger circuits are built into the batttery and the computer.

Does the battery have an LED indicator built into it, sort of like a Duracell?

It doesn't seem to be the adapter, but I would check it with a voltmeter, just to err on the side of caution.

If you rarely unplug the laptop, there is the outside chance you may have developed what is called a "memory effect" in the battery. What this basically is, is when the inside of the battery's cells crystallize, inhibiting the free flow of electrons. This can be solved by freezing the battery for an extended period, like 5-7 days in a tightly sealed ziploc bag. This also requires that you thaw the battery before re-installing it, you don't want it to "sweat".

Worst case scenario, it could be voltage regulator related.
