The weather report states that Central and Southern Mississippi are under a winter storm watch with a possiblity of 2 to 4 inches on snow in the Central portion and a possible 6 inches in the Southern half!! The last time it snowed here we only got less than a 1\4 inch and the median strips of I-55 and I-20 looked like parking lots with all the cars that slid off the road!! Now, IF we get 2 to 4 inches of the white stuff I can only imagine what it will look like!! I used the term 'demolition derby' for this thread because I have the horrid feeling that there will be ALOT of twisted metal on our highways. Granted, people down here aren't used to driving in the white stuff and our snow removal equipment is almost nil, but you would think that common sense would play a part in this....NOT!!! Driving in the snow is a 'novelty' down here because it happens so rarely and I can only hope that common sense will overrule the novelty of it! I'm from Pennsylvania and I do have some experience with the white stuff, but it's NOT my experience that I'm worried about!!

Fred_G, you're our neighbor to the West, how's it looking in your neck of the woods? Last night we had 2 tornadoes touchdown in Yazoo City and took out a couple of homes, how did you guys fair since those storms went through LA first?

It's actually generally less slick when it snows more than when you get that light covering with no snow prep. If you don't have any cinder or sand down, the 1/4 inch stuff is like ice.

    Good luck with it all.

We get a bunch of snow in PA so we are used to it. You can always tell the people who aren't from around here.

Wet, rain, wind and more rain Stubby! :-D I think the airport reported 2.8", but it seemed like more. I heard yesterday we have a small chance for sleet or snow, but the ground temp is too high for it to do anything but look nice.

I guess your state is like mine. When we actually get any snow that sticks (about every 4 years or so) people with no experience driving in it, with regular tires, decide to go driving around! :-D

The local body shops love it!
